13 Mar 2008 - Charnwood Retains its Fairtrade Borough status

The Fairtrade Foundation have confirmed that Charnwood has retained its status as a Fairtrade Borough.

In a letter the Fairtrade Foundation stated that 'it is clear that your Fairtrade campaign has continued to go forward in Charnwood and that a great deal of hard work has gone in to promoting Fairtrade and increasing the understanding of why Fairtrade is so important'.

'Thanks to the work of groups like your, sales of fairtrade products in the UK alone reached almost half a billion pounds in 2007 and over 7 million people - producers, workers and thier families - are now able to benefit from Fairtrade.'
